Georgia Institute of Technology

The Jordan Lab

Bioinformatics & Computational Genomics — advancing understanding of human genetics, ancestry, and health.

Research Areas

Our lab focuses on computational approaches to human genetics, ancestry, and health.

🏥

Genetic Epidemiology

We study relationships between genetic diversity, socioeconomic factors, and health outcomes. Our work focuses on precision medicine, health disparities, and pharmacogenomics — investigating how genetics and the environment interact to shape disease risk.

🧬

Ancestry Inference

We develop and apply methods for genetic ancestry inference, with an emphasis on the characterization of admixed American populations. Our tools including Rye and Pastrami enable fast and computationally efficient ancestry inference at population biobank-scale.

🌎

Capacity Building

We are engaged in international capacity building in genomics and bioinformatics. We conduct collaborative research, workshops and short courses, and exchange visits for students and faculty between host institutions in the US, Latin America, and Africa.
